Chainsaw Man returns, mangaka pay homage to the series with these illustrations

by Harry Brown

Among the most anticipated manga of 2022 was Chainsaw Man. Tatsuki Fujimoto had impressed everyone with the first part that had been published in Weekly Shonen Jump for exactly two years between 2018 and 2020. The author then took a long break and he certainly let himself be waited, even if he filled the gaps a bit with some oneshots.

But the wait is over: in the past few hours, Chainsaw Man chapter 98 debuted on MangaPlus, the first of the second part. The numbering of the previous volumes will therefore continue, but the situation that has been glimpsed in this first chapter is certainly unprecedented and opens up to new plot structures. The return was highly anticipated by everyone, with a large slice of the public who immediately tuned in to the Shueisha portal to read the latest news. And in the audience, this time on the Japanese front, there are also some exceptional authors.

Yuji Kaku (Jigokuraku, Ayashimon) has long been a close colleague of Fujimoto and has dedicated to Chainsaw Man many drawings in the past. He was therefore one of the first to celebrate his return, as can be seen from the image below that depicts the new devil who appeared in the series. Following is instead the dedication of Yokoyari Mengo (Scum’s Wish, designer of Oshi no Ko) who over the years has created many illustrations themed Chainsaw Man, and certainly she did not miss the return with this drawing by Himeno. Shinnosuke Kanazawa (Ottoman) closes the trio, with the author seinen who has published a Power drawing.

Surely many other tributes to Chainsaw Man will arrive over the next few hours, particularly from fans.
