Lady Oscar: an anime remake is coming for the 50th anniversary of the series

If anime and manga are so widespread in Italy nowadays, it is due to historical series such as The Roses of Versailles – Lady Oscar, a work that marked the childhood of millions of fans who have now passed on their passion to their children. According to some leakers, the work will receive an anime remake.

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the manga series written and drawn by Riyoko Ikeda, in the month of July in Italy J-POP Manga published a collector’s box of Lady Oscar. But it seems it will not be only this project to celebrate the work.

According to a leak, coming from a rather reliable source, for the 50th anniversary of the manga, a remake of the iconic anime series is coming. At the moment, we do not have certain information and we do not yet know which animation studio will take care of the production. The release, if the rumors prove to be well founded, could take place between the end of 2023 and the beginning of 2024.

Lady Oscar’s manga made its debut in Shueisha’s Margaret magazine in 1972. In Italy, the first edition, by Granata Press, dates back to 1993. As for the anime, however, the original one dates back to 1979. The episodes , were broadcast on Italia 1 since 1982. The full Lady Oscar series is available on Now TV, pending the remake.
