On July 12, 1997, Mononoke-hime, known by us by the title Princess Mononoke. Exactly 25 years after the premiere, we celebrate the legendary film produced by Studio Ghibli and written and directed by the master Hayao Miyazaki.

Today, we celebrate the 25th anniversary of one of the most important animated films ever, a masterpiece that has made school for the Japanese industry and beyond. Princess Mononoke, of Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli, turns twenty-five. For the occasion, Principessa Mononoke returns to Italian cinemas from 14 to 20 July 2022.

A quarter of a century has passed since the debut in Japanese cinemas of Princess Mononoke, an anime feature film that still today it can be appreciated by everyone. The merit of this is due not only to the timeless narration, but also to the splendid animations and the soundtrack.

The animation of the film is made almost entirely with individual frames made by hand, approved one by one by Miyazaki himself. In total, there are only five minutes of film with computer animation and ten with digital coloring. Recently, an AI rebuilt Princess Mononoke into reality. As for the OST of the film, this was compsota by Joe Hisashi, historical collaborator for the Miyazaki productions.
