A few days ago, the community was shocked by the news of the death of the author of Yu-Gi-Oh !, the mangaka Kazuki Takashi. Finally, the coroner performed an autopsy which confirmed the reason for death.

On 6 July 2022, at 10:30 local time, following the reports of some citizens, the Japanese coast guard found the lifeless body of Takahashi about 300 meters off the coast of Nago, Okinawa. A few days after the unfortunate discovery, the 60-year-old author was subjected to autopsy.

According to information released by medical examiners, Kazuki Takahashi died from drowning. No criminal involvement is suspected, as authorities reported that the sensei was wearing snorkeling gear at the time of the discovery. Therefore, it is likely that the artist’s death was due to a simple, unfortunate accident.

Weekly Shonen Jump greeted the author of Yu-Gi-Oh !, who created one of Shueisha’s most successful hits and one of the richest franchises of the Japanese industry. Over the course of his successful career, Takahashi has won numerous accolades, including the Comic-Con International’s Inkpot Award in July 2015, but the bad luck snatched him from life. His legacy will live on forever in the Duel Monster and the characters he creates.
